14 Oct 2009 NYKJÆR LOOKS FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE CROWN
Michel Nykjær, recently crowned Danish Touring Car champion for the second time, will defend his double FIA European Touring Car Cup title in the Super 2000 class at Braga. The Dane, who will be again at the wheel of a Perfection Racing Chevrolet Lacetti car, won the ETCC in 2007 at Adria and in 2008 at Salzburgring.
UK-based Bamboo Engineering have entered two Chevrolet Lacetti cars in the FIA European Touring Car Cup.
Bamboo’s BTCC regular driver Harry Vaulkhard will be joined for the event by Duarte Fèlix da Costa who currently lies second in the Portuguese Touring Car Championship after a recent race win at the Braga circuit in September.
Last weekend at Imola Norbert Michelisz clinched the 2009 SEAT León Eurocup title and won participation in the FIA European Touring Car Cup at Braga.
The 24-years old from Hungary emerged as the series’ winner by scoring five victories – at Valencia, Porto, Brands Hatch, Oschersleben and Imola – and collecting 68 points, 13 more than runner up Massimiliano Pedalà.
The 2009 FIA European Touring Car Cup was launched today at a press conference in Braga.
The event, that will take place on October 25th at Braga’s Circuito Vasco Sameiro, will be named “Tributo a Álvaro Miranda”, in memory of the president of the Clube Automóvel do Minho who died last year.
Yokohama will supply again the control tyres to competitors of the FIA European Touring Car Cup.
The Japanese manufacturer also confirmed the prize money that will be awarded to the drivers of the three categories, Super 2000, Super 1600 and Super Production, for a total amount of euro 165,000.
Media accreditation for the 2009 FIA European Touring Car Cup that will take place at Braga, Portugal, 24th and 25th October is now open.
The deadline to apply for media credentials is Tuesday, 13th October.

19 Oct 2008 NYKJÆR WINS SECOND CONSECUTIVE S2000 CUP
Michel Nykjær managed to claim a second consecutive FIA European Touring Car Cup at the Austrian Salzburgring today. The Danish driver won the first race and then survived a number of incidents to finish second in the second race behind Oscar Nogués. This was enough to win the Super 2000 Cup and give Denmark victory in the Nations’ Cup again.
