The second test session that took place in the early afternoon started with mixed asphalt conditions; some parts of the track were still wet because of the rain that fell earlier this morning.
Twenty-three drivers participated in the session, three of them in the Super 1600 class and two in Super Production.
The first test session took place in the morning, and the track was still wet because of night showers. Twenty-one competitors took part in the session, all but one – Egons Lapins’ Super Production Honda Integra – from the Super 2000 class.
Russian driver Alexander Lvov emerged as the fastest in the early stages, with a best lap of 1:37:348.

The concept at the basis of FIA European Touring Car Cup is to attract drivers from the different national Touring Car championships that adopt FIA technical regulations: Super 2000, Super Production and Super 1600.
This is perfectly reflected in the participation of six national champions (or nearly…) to the Austrian event at Salzburgring.
Sixteen different models of cars will take part in the ETC Cup. One of them is facing its maiden appearance in an international race meeting: the Toyota Auris built and run by the Yaco Team and driven by the newly crowned German Procar champion Philip Geipel.

The National Sporting Authorities (ASN) will compete to succeed Denmark’s DASU (Dansk Motor Sports Union) in the roll of honour of the FIA Nations Cup, awarded to the ASN whose drivers have scored the highest number of points in the two races.
The best two cars entered by competitors belonging to the same ASN will be taken into consideration for the Nations Cup’s classification.
Michel Nykjær, the winner of the 2007 FIA S2000 Cup in Adria, defends his title at the wheel of a Chevrolet Lacetti run by the Chevrolet Motorsport Danmark team. Nykjær won last year’s Cup and the Danish Touring Car Championship in a SEAT León, while in 2008 he raced the DTC with a Poulsen Motorsport BMW 320si.
