DRIVERS’ QUALIFYING QUOTES

Norbert MICHELISZ: These were not easy conditions to drive the turbo diesel car. Before the qualifying I was hoping for a dry track, but it’s ok, I managed to claim pole position and I’m very happy. Honestly I did not expect such a result, because you have to be used to this car before being able to take the most out of it - especially in the wet. I still need to collect more kilometres, but I hope that after the warm up we will sort out a set up to be competitive whether it is going to be dry or not.

Franz ENGSTLER: I am very happy with my second place. My team did a very good job in setting up the car. I was able to set some fast laps, and the car is also very consistent. I think I could have been on pole without a small incident I had with Zasadych in the late stages, but I wish to congratulate Michelisz. It is great to see some young drivers like him and da Costa being so quick in such a difficult category. Anyway, I’m an old driver and I’m here to have fun. So I will try to beat them tomorrow!

Duarte Félix DA COSTA: It’s good to be the fastest of the Portuguese drivers, but obviously that is not my goal. I’m here to try to be the fastest of the field. I think we have done a very good job. I knew the track, but I had to cope with a car and a team that were new to me. Bamboo Engineering are very professional and they helped me a lot to feel comfortable at the wheel of the Lacetti. We have consistently improved from the first test session and now I feel very confident for tomorrow’s races.

Mikhail ZASADYCH: This was my first drive in a rear-wheel drive car, as I have always driven front-wheel drive in my career so far. So it was a bit complicated to learn how to handle it while getting to know the circuit and coping with mixed weather conditions at the same time. I think that tomorrow Marcis Birkens and I will have a close fight.

Carsten SEIFERT: Last year I finished second in the Super 1600 at Salzburg. So I came here with the aim to win the cup. Unfortunately nobody else joined the class and I find myself without competitors. It is a shame. Anyway, I’m here and I want to have fun, so I’m focusing on improving my pace. I started yesterday ten seconds from the fastest lap and now I’m eight seconds behind. And I am closing in on the Super Production cars.
